Bloggaday 303 – The Definitive Davidian Collection
By David “DJ Dice and Everything Nice” Dysart
So I was tasked with making a cd with my favorite songs, so here it is!
I’m going to paste my notes that I added with the cd, but then I’ll add another list that links to Youtube videos so you can actually listen to my utterly awesome and refined musical tastes. I will warn you though. It starts out slower for the first 10 songs or so, but it really picks up for the last half or so.
The Definitive Davidian Collection
1) “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door” by Bob Dylan
This classic from Bob Dylan opens up The Definitive Davidian Collection
2) “Firefly – Main Theme” by Joss Whedon & Sonny Rhodes
One of two TV themes, this continues the opening feel of the DDC.
3) “Drift Away” by Dobie Gray
One of my first “favorite” songs ever, this is really the only song from my past on the DDC.
4) “She Wouldn’t Be Gone” by Blake Shelton
The first country song on the DDC, it represents more current country, barely edging out Jason Aldean for a spot on the DDC.
5) “Every Rose Has It’s Thorn” by Poison
While this wasn’t the only Poison song vying for a spot on the DDC, it was the only one to make it
6) “The Worst Day Since Yesterday” by Flogging Molly
And here, the only Irish song to make it to burning. This particular song even inspired a story by me.
7) “Give It Away” by George Strait
I’m not a huge George Strait guy, so the fact that he got a song here at all is odd, but it slipped on in.
8) “Carol of Bells” by The Bird and the Bee
Easily my favorite Christmas song, “Carol of Bells” has an almost eerie presence & deserves its spot.
9) “Re: Your Brains” by Jonathan Coulton
If you know nothing of JoCo, you’re welcome. http://tiny.cc/thingaweek (52 free songs)
10a) The Lost Song: “Melody” by Kate Earl
Though I appreciate the lyrics, It was a last-minute cut to make the mix fit.
10b) “Watching Airplanes” by Gary Allan
I really really like this song. /_ You see that? That was a period. PERIOD.
11) “Paul Revere” by The Beastie Boys
That’s how I role, what can I say? Hands down, the best Beastie Boys song. Hey! There’s another one of those period things.
12) “Renegade” by Styx
And the mix finally picks up. Renegade is one of my all-time favorites. Easily.
13) “Tank! – Luke Vibert Remix” by Seatbelts
3, 2, 1, Let’s jam! The opening theme of Cowboy Bebop. That was a show that just felt right.
14) “Basket Case” by Green Day
And that’s a song with one hell of a beginning. I WILL sing it when I hear it. It was hard choosing the one Green Day song for the DDC. There were more than a couple that could have done it.
15) “All In” by The Grouch and Eligh
A free video form iTunes, this is 1 of 3 free singles of the week that made the DDC.
16) “Stronger” by Kanye West (With Daft Punk)
Daft Punk AND Kanye? Okay on their own, but when you put them together? Damn.
17) “Bulletproof” by La Roux
The last free song, what would a mix be without a little dance music? Crazy-@$$ video though.
18) “Harder to Breathe” by Maroon 5
My feminine side’s heart was broken when it found out that only one Maroon 5 song could be on the DDC. You could say I was in Misery, but I Can’t Lie, that’s Just A Feeling, and I Don’t Know Nothing, especially when I Stutter. Sorry, I Can’t Stop. I just need to Figure It Out while I have a Little of Your Time. I’ll tell you a Secret though, The Sun will always give me a Shiver on Sunday Morning, especially when I’m Tangled with This Love… … … So yeah, I just picked one… OOHRAH!
19) “Are You Gonna Be My Girl” by Jet
Heard and loved it on the iTunes ad. When I found out it was on Madden, I turned every other song off on the game and had this on repeat.
20) “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” by The Proclaimers
Hailzya. If you don’t smile at this song, then I would advise checking your soul. You must’ve misplaced it.
21) “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door” by Guns N’ Roses
And finally we come full circle with the Guns N’ Roses version of “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door”
If the links aren’t coming up, then it’s a facebook thing. They’ll be live at blogger. Which would be here -> http://tiny.cc/Bloggaday303

New to the Bloggaday? These are the essential posts to see
158 – Boxer V Brief – Short, concise joke machine and a DYNAMIC ENTRANCE! to my favorite Bloggadays of the Second Trigaday
159 – A Phthalates-filled Sbarro Breadstick – This was just a funny Bloggaday despite the essence being something no one will get unless the look up what a phthalate is
174 – FNtCCA,aToTbDD– While I think it’s clear I rarely EDIT the Bloggaday, this train-of-thought post shows how much I have to FILTER it…
183 – SotW 13 – This one had it all. Pretty much every bit that’s been a major player in the SotW made its way into this one, so it’s a good one to try.
134 – SotW 5 – This particular Song of the Week featured the characters a bit truer to their original concept. After a while, I started liking Tom too much and changed him a bit which caused changes to Chuck.
227 – PWND: TSHBRotCCPS pt16 was some solid fiction content. Plus, that was probably some of the finest Final Thought I’ve ever thought up.
