Bloggaday 51 – My ACC Mai Ty

Last time, I explored the deep psychological pathology of the Fire Nation royalty. This time I finish off the Fire Nation and do Mai and Ty Lee. My Mai Ty Bloggaday.



Mai
The depressing and apathetic goth chick of the Fire Nation, Mai has won the hearts of the “alternative” fans of Avatar. Very much like my selections of Azula, I have two cosplayers that represent the two main facets of the character, and one additional cosplayer that links the two. So without further stalling, the pics of my picks.

A great picture that embodies my previous description, but she’s Emo enough to make me want to take my electric razor to my wrists. Turns out, it don’t work too well. I don’t recall her getting spotlighted on the videos too much, but if you didn’t check them out when I plugged the youtube channel with Azula, you should do so now.

With the perfect blend of contempt and apathy, this cosplayer marks the personality of Mai rather amazingly.


Ty Lee.
This is the anomaly of my cast. I had my three picked out, and I was going to plug the Lorelei Ty Lee. I didn’t have any pictures of her, so it wasn’t a big deal. When I sent out a request to Lorelei, I mentioned all three though, and I looked at their Deviantart page. So now you get 4 Ty Lees.
Meh, works for me. As I mentioned with Iroh, Ty Lee is one of my favorite characters along with Toph and Iroh. A perfect balance of quirkiness and kick@$$ness, Ty Lee is what is right about Avatar.

Bubbly Ty Lee is bubbly. This is the Ty Lee I was talking about in the intro. Definitely have to see the videos for her. Third times the charm for the people ignoring what I was saying… er… typing?

Bloggaday 50 – Avatar Cosplay Cast – Fire Nation Royalty Review

The last couple of weeks, I’ve been putting an Avatar Cosplayer Cast together. My Fire Nation portion is at http://thebloggaday.blogspot.com/2010/03/bloggaday-40-fire-nation-cosplay-cast.html and the Gaang is over at http://thebloggaday.blogspot.com/2010/04/bloggaday-47-gaang-cosplayer-cast.html . Given the volume of pictures, I couldn’t really comment on the pictures and cosplayers… Until now. For this post, I’ll take a look at the Azula, Fire Lord Ozai, and Zuko potions.


Azula
For Azula, I have a great cosplay for the vicious and cruel Azula. To end it, I have a great one that nailed crazy Azula. Between the two, I’ve got a cosplayer that was spectacular at both.

CRAZY AZULA! She makes a great whack job. Very convincing. She’s like one of dem dare actresses.


Ozai
Very slim picking for the main antagonist of the show, but this is definitely a section where I scored quality rather then quantity.

Again, one of my favorite cosplayers. I haven’t come across much Ozai cosplaying, but he just seems perfect.


Zuko
Zuko was definitely the character on Avatar that showed many different faces. A very dynamic character throughout the series. With the cosplayers for Zuko, I was able to actually to get a snapshot of what I think are the three main aspects of the character.

Very slim pickins for Iroh Cosplayers, so I’m not going to include him in this cast. This is very depressing since Iroh is in my top 3 favorite characters along with Toph and Ty Lee, and really, my favorite overall. Emoticon me is sad. ;.-(

This semester, I took a sociology class with a teacher named Julie Davis. Every semester she makes her students do 10 hours of community service. This particular sociology class is social problems, so we have to relate it to one of the social problems we have talked about.
I chose education for my social problem. As an aside, I plan on starting a Physics Videocast. I will be taking projects from my physics book and performing them. Yay for Youtube.
I will post a link up here when I get the first video up. I figure that the show notes will actually be Bloggadays, so I will subject you folks to all that boringness. But there should be some good stuff. Fun for the whole family.

Bloggaday 48 – .5’er Gang Signs. Representin. Leaf Side. Four Tribe Life

As you may have noticed, I’ve been throwing some wicked gang signs in the last couple .5 Piccaday pictures. Well, don’t be ignorant. I’ve been watching Naruto. A couple of weeks ago I caught an episode. Apparently the Oruchimaru folks took Gara, and they were going to take the thing out of him, but it was going to take nine days. I debated to start watching it again, but I decided not to.
Now, “le gasp, but you said you were watching it!” Before I get to that, I suppose I should say I used to watch it, but it’s been a while. I stopped watching it the same time I stopped watching Avatar quite some time ago. Last I remember, Oruchimaru (I have no idea on the spelling) (Spoiler) killed the Hokagi I think. So this was during the chunin exams. Oh, I’m butchering this. I stopped a while ago.
So now I’m watching Naruto Shipuden, which is them slightly grown up? I don’t know what happened to Sasuke, but Sakura wanted some answers about. I do know Kakashi is still pretty pimp, so I’m happy.
Anyways, when I Spiked up the .5 Piccadays, I wasn’t even thinking Naruto. I was doing an Avatar/Bebop fanfic, so I was kind of setting that up, but on the third day, I didn’t really know what to do, but I had been scrashing on Naruto Marathon, so I thought I would put my hands together like they do. I didn’t quite remember how it was done, so I googled Naruto hand sign and got this video http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=2627448780114788345# , and I figured, “Hey, That’ll knock out two weeks of .5’ers (I don’t post a personal pick on Avatar Casts on Fridays).” Yes, I air-parenthesized my own talk.

Bloggaday 46 – Abandoning an Airbending Addiction

Great interest in Avatar waning… Coming off addictive high… Must keep it joing until the movie comes out… Ohhhhh… Noooo…
Ugh, I was crazy hooked on the Last Airbender for a while, but I think I’m coming off of it. It’s funny; I have a tendency of doing this with various shows and other modes of entertainment, but I don’t think I have an addictive personality.
During this last go around, I drew a few pictures (http://www.theotaku.com/portfolio/avi101 ), started the Avatar Journey, a character-driven set of blogs that accompanies the episodes, Avatar Re-envisioned an alternative storyline if Waterbenders were the antagonists (inspired by the cover of 2012) (http://thebloggaday.blogspot.com/2010/03/bloggaday-29-b1c1-boy-in-boulder-part-1.html ), a Cowboy Bebop/Avater fanfic crossover (Which I’ll post what I have one of these Wednesdays for PWND), and of course the Avatar Cosplayer Cast, which is a project I’m currently doing and will be doing for the next couple of weeks. I think before the Avatar, I went on a Rookie kick. The Rookie is a book from Ney York Time’s list bestselling author and breakthrough podcast author. Described as Any Given Sunday meets the Godfather meets Star Wars. The sequel comes out today over herar -> http://www.scottsigler.com/thestarter . When I went through that particular kick, I tried doing a realistic drawing of my favorite character, I created some Bionacle models of the aliens in the book, and did a couple of pieces of fanfic including A Tot’s Tales – A Very Tweety Christmas, and a pair of Nocturnal Gambit chapters.
