Bloggaday 57 – The Avatar Cosplayer Cast Catch-up

Bloggaday 57 – The Avatar Cosplayer Cast Catch-up

If you haven’t been following the ACC, the Avatar Cosplayer Cast, get caught up here. I should start rolling the final product out Friday, so I figured I could milk one last Bloggaday out of this. I will be glad when this is done. It has taken way too much time.

I said Friday I would give the last set of pictures a rundown, so here it is.

Toph,
Again, if you haven’t been up to date with these, you wouldn’t know that Toph is one of my 3 favorite characters… I suppose if you haven’t been reading this, then you probably don’t care. If you don’t care, why are you reading this? … Anyways, Aparently America can’t produce a top rated Toph because my top 3 are all outsourced.

Hmm, she really looks like Toph. I imagine this is pretty close to what she would look like in real life. Her outfits also seem to be really well done. Huge hair also.

Apparently a veteran cosplayer. Definitely has the feeling of Toph. I imagine the only thing that could make her stance picture better is if she was looking. That is one thing that most Toph cosplayers seem to forget when they try to get into her character. She’s blind! So when they try to act like her, they don’t act terribly blind. The picture of her on the rock is better at this.

This cosplayer is in the same group with one of the Katara’s that I chose. Honestly, out of the two, I like this one better. I’m not sure why though, just seems to fit the character better.

Suki,
I think I found some really good Sukis. One of the best trios out of the cast.

Seems to fit Suki extremely well. Her Kyoshi Warrior outfit isn’t fully decked in makeup, but it still looks good

When I first saw her, I thought it was my cousin. She is the best Kyoshi Warrior I’ve seen. The amount of detail work on the outfit and the liberties she took with it are amazing. I’m guessing she makes the little Avatar things, but I’m not sure.

One of my all-time favorite cosplayers. I’ve seen other Cabbage Merchants, but this guy is just a bit awesome as him.

Bloggaday 56 – Dream Analysis Pt 3

Bloggaday 56 – Dream Analysis Pt 3
The last portion.
For the interpretation of the different aspects of the dreams, I used the site http://www.dreammoods.com/ even though some of their descriptions sounded more like a fortune cookie rather than an explanation of subconscious symbols. For the darkness of the dream, it suggests that I don’t have enough information to make a current decision. A few weeks ago I had a dream that I tried to analyze. It seemed to circle around my upcoming decision of rather I would attend CSUSB or Sonoma State University. This is a choice that still weighs on me, and it would appear that the darkness could be about this.
I remember feeling a good deal of anxiety as I tried to find my seat. The site suggests that I am feeling some in real life and could reflect “repressed thoughts, unexpressed emotions, resentment, and hostility.” Again, I feel this could be focused towards my decision of colleges. As for the emotions, I have different people focusing on one particular university and trying to get me to go there. Assuming that it is the only viable choice. Perhaps that explains the rest of the interpretation.
As I said, the lecture wasn’t in a room; it was this huge expanse. The site’s interpretation for Arena mentions that I “need a stage or platform for yourself expression.” It also mentions that I have a problem that needs to be brought into the open. Again, the university decision isn’t as open as it could be.
It is suggested that the fact that I was at a lecture means that I need to do some research and weigh my options. That still fits with the decision I need to make about colleges.
The spiral that the group appeared on and the music stands were both very tall or long. The site continues to say that “long” things either mean the penis or issues of power. Since the rest of the dream is absent of sexual matters, I would assume it is an issue of power. I would think that it is saying I need to make my own decision rather than just doing what other people are telling me. Again, I have multiple people telling me about the universities.
The gold of the pillars or music stands means wealth. If this dream is about my choice of universities, then it could be assuring me that education will lead to a good living.
The glow around the groups suggests enlightenment and a “new light” being shed on an issue. I still haven’t figured out what the groups stand for, but they seem to be the key to my unconscious decision on the subject.
Aside from what the site can tell me, there are some aspects that it can not speak on. The League of Nations and 1773 are connected somehow. Their connection was obvious in the dream. I am not a particular fan of the League. One of the only things that I can think I would know that happened in 1773 is the Boston Tea Party. There is a new movement calling itself the Tea Party, which I’m not a fan of either, but this seems to be a bit of a stretch. The Push of Knowledge was also linked with ending the Home Crisis. If the Push of Knowledge is education, then my choice of college would mean drastically different living situations. Lastly, while I enjoy music, I have no clue about musicality. I also enjoy education, but I am torn about which university to attend, so this could be why it was my music teacher giving the lecture.
Examining your dreams can be an invaluable habit. With dreams being a window into your unconscious, the insight you can pull from them can be crucial for your waking self. Even if you fail at understanding the true meaning, you will assign whatever is on your mind to it, and that allows you to think about it more. While I believe I have identified some issues, I am missing a few things to get a clearer understanding of what it is that I am seeing.

Bloggaday 55 – Dream Analysis Pt 2

Bloggaday 55 – Dream Analysis Pt 2
Pt 2 of 3. Again, written before class.
As for the focus of this paper, I only remember portions of it. I woke up in the middle of the night and actually took some notes about the dream, but even some of those I don’t remember clearly. In the dream, I was late to a lecture given by my current music teacher. It wasn’t in a class though. It was in this huge auditorium or possibly a stadium, but it was extremely dark. As I found my seat, I remember checking my phone for the time, but I do not recall what the time was. She was very passionate about the lecture, talking predominately about the past. As she started talking about sheet music, my dream went into a series of cut sequences. Each scene went up in a spiral. It was still dark, but the people were lit by a glow. The area where the people were, spiraled around an empty center of the building where my point of view was. Large pillars ran up to each group, apparently sheet music stands despite their size, decoration, and what appeared to be ornate carvings. Even though they appeared to be gold, the teacher also stressed the fact that they could make non-metallic stands. She also stressed that the League of Nations was created in 1773, and that a push of knowledge (the particulars being something I don’t recall) could end the home crisis. That’s the best play-by-play I could remember of the dream.
As I said, I jotted some notes down when I woke up, some of which I still don’t know about. Here is that list: Lecture auditorium, Sheet music, Fishing accident, Monks, Movie cuts, 36%, Gold, League of nations, 1773, Push of knowledge, End home crisis, Nonmetalic stands. While I don’t remember the particulars of the fishing accident, it is vaguely familiar. I wrote monks because of some of the group in the spiral, but the groups were extremely varied and monk was something I had looked up on a dream interpretation website before this dream. I am not particular convinced of their place in my dream. I have absolutely no recollection about 36%, but at least the others are familiar to some extent.

Bloggaday 53 – Dream analysis pt 1

Bloggaday 53 – Dream analysis pt 1

Small update about tomorrow. My timeline meant that Friday was video day for my Avatar Cosplayer Cast, but some real life events are causing some limited Bloggadaying abilities, but I will keep doing the ACC Friday with the last in-depth go with the characters. It will be Toph, Suki, Smeller Bee, and the Cabbage Merchant.
I’ll actually be missing my research group which hasn’t met in the last two weeks, 4 fundraiser events, and a sociology field trip.
Anyways, this is a paper I wrote Tuesday morning before my 11:00 morning class. It’s about 1500 words, so I’m going to break it into 3 posts.

Thought Paper Two
Dream analysis
I believe that I, like most people, allow the memory of our dreams to slip free of my consciousness before I can examine, and at times, even remember them at all. But channeling the will fitting to even the most disciplined monk on a mountain, I was able to remember the fleeting moments of a conversation between my unconscious and myself while I slept.
As I woke and fought to remember glimpses of my dreams, one major trend did appear. In all but one dream (the one I will be analyzing for this paper), television characters played predominant roles in my dreams. According to the site, http://www.analysedreams.co.uk, the traits of the fictional characters are embodied by myself or someone close to me. I do not recall all of the different television shows and movies featured in my dreams, but the two that come to mind are Scrubs and Transformers. From Scrubs, the character that I remember most is Christopher Turk. I cannot remember any particular Transformers character that were in my dreams, but the common trait between Turk and the Transformers are their remarkable ability to transform in different situations. Transformers are large robots that are capable of literally transforming from different sorts of vehicles to a more human version of it. Turk, on the other hand, has multiple facets of his personality that he utilizes when dealing with different people. He is often a wacky character, especially with the main character of the show, but he is more serious when he is with his wife. While the former is not completely eliminated, he is much more controlled. With this, I would say these are attributes of myself rather than someone close to me. Though I imagine it could be about anyone since it is a rather universal thing to put a different foot forward for different situations. Even with the dominance of the theme, I am not sure what the point of the dreams are other than just to make me aware that I do this. I don’t remember any context of rather it was a good or bad thing. While I don’t remember this theme in my dream I am analyzing, the fact that television shows were in almost every single dream I had this week, and the two I actually remember can be so nicely tied together, I believe that it is a very important fact that could not be ignored in an assignment such as this.

Bloggaday 52 – PWND Pt 1 of Aaron

Bloggaday 52 – PWND Pt 1 of Aaron

Finally, another edition of PWND!
Umm, train murder mystery? Enjoy.

The words waltzed on the browning paper. Their movements flowed to the score of a spoon’s clacking of Aaron’s emptied cup. The two continued in symphony as his eyes followed the movement. He had long-since been accustomed to this particular piece, and it offered no obstacle.
Mr. Heit had always loved trains despite quarks like this. Ever since childhood when the trains finally made it to him, he always looked forward to them. Back then though, his father and mother took him nearly every weekend on the train, a joy he rarely managed nowadays. Still though, he loved what time he did manage to have on them.
The train always offered a tranquility that he had yet to find anywhere’s else. He didn’t have to skip lunch to make a meeting, and he wasn’t expected to drop everything and make supper on time. The Yin and Yang didn’t tear at him; they engulfed him.
A commotion out of him room syncopated the dance of his book, throwing Aaron’s eyes out of rhythm. He looked up in time to see a blur of clothes race by his glass.
“Hmm,” he pondered, “I suppose I could use some more coffee.” He slid the portrait of Franklin against the inside spine of the book and set it off to his table. He returned with his cup and porcelain plate to stand. The room was barely more than a cell. His chair appeared quite the antique, but the only parallel it had to one was the hours it had spent being used. The table was stained and chipped, looking barely worse than the blankets that apparently passed as a bed opposite the chair. Aaron truly did love the train.
He snagged his trilby and with a slide of the wooden partition gave way to the roar of the tracks. The disturbance tore from the right as the door slacked open to another car. As he scanned the rest of the car, the hall held another man. He collapsed into the grasp of the floor with drowned thwap.
With a flip, he flung the cup into his room and made into a sprint for the man. As Aaron stuttered to the floor, he spun him to his back. Blood slicked the stranger’s suit, and now he laid in an amassing puddle of it.
“Hey, buddy. Hey, pal.” Aaron offered him few quick slaps, but as they failed to gain the man’s attention, he looked back to the open door with a sigh. “Well, this is no bit good.” As he continued to gaze out, his fingers found the man’s throat. As his interaction with the man faileld yet again, he let another of his sighs out. “Completely ungood indeed.”
