Bloggaday 24 Home Remedies for Gerontological Issues

Bloggaday 24 Home Remedies for Gerontological Issues

The Shwailing Lizard marched through gravel that would have begun cooking the scampering feet of animals from any of the other nations. The Heat Bowl though, had a way of toughening animals… and people beyond the usual Fire Nation resilience.

I interrupt this regularly scheduled PWND edition of Bloggaday to bring you a video-accompanied special news bulletin.

Hmm, today I have a paper due, a paper I have yet to do. It’ll be easy though. All I have to do is watch a movie that has to do with a social problem and write a paper about it. My sociology teacher seems to be a fan of gerontology, so I might just do something on that. Something like Wildhogs.
Sigh, getting old is depressing. It’s just that much harder getting in and out of seats. Gettin’ movin’. You now, these few months round after 21 is pretty hard. That is a good point though. I guess there is one thing about getting old I won’t have to worry about. That there is the aid of Viagra. I’ve got my miracle cure typing this up at this very moment. No, not some cute girl. Good ol’ righty. In fact, I think I’ll turn some Barry White on the iTunes Genius playlist, lay it on a bed of the softest imported silks, and make sweet sweet lovin’ to it.
Sigh… again. That joke worked MUCH better in video format here – (http://www.youtube.com/user/DavidDysart?feature=mhw4), the first of what I can only imagine will be the very rare youtube accompaniment of the Bloggaday.
The bit of humor actually spawned from the new Two and a Half Men episode. Part 1 – Chelsea’s Dad asking his gay lover if he need any Viagra. The lover returned with, you are my Viagra. Couple that with the brilliance of Chuck Lorrie’s Vanity Cards, which I get nominated to read, and this is what you get. That particular Vanity Card was a “You know you’re getting old when…” card (fitting well with this Bloggaday’s gerontology’s theme). The line that set me off was, you get winded when you masturbate. That there got me going and the first thing that came to mind, which I of course spurted out while looking at my hand, “Baby, you are my Viagra.”

Bloggaday 23 Gorgeous origins

Bloggaday 23 Gorgeous origins

Let’s start with the line I came up with
I always said it would take an act of God and Congress to use the actual word ‘gorgeous’ to describe a woman. Well, the act of Congress was the 1st amendment. The act of God was you.

As for the word itself, I’ve never been a user, a gorgeous junkie. It was just never really a word in my vocabulary.
One day though, I was going through pictures of Avatar: The Last Airbender cosplay to jerry rig a fan cast of the movie for a post on the Bloggaday. I’m not sure when I’ll get this up, but it’ll be one of these days. Granted, my cast will be much older, such as the subject of this post is like 24 or something. The future post will be more focused on the feel of the characters though rather than age.
I won’t post the picture that got me started on the use of the word gorgeous, but I’ll point it out when I make the mock cast.
Edit: Added two pictures of the "gorgeous" girl.

Alright, edited out my Piccaday picture for the pictures of the "gorgeous" girl
Here's a link to her cosplay website. She has a couple of Katara albums. I think she also has a Deviantart page, but hell if I can remember.

Bloggaday 22 – Democracy, a Fickle Bitc

Bloggaday 22 – Democracy, a Fickle Bitc

I am currently enrolled in Crafton Hill’s English 127 class where we put The Sand Canyon Review together. Herar ->
This last Thursday, our class gathered in a circle and sang Kumbaya. Well, that’s a lie. What we actually did was pick a cover for this year’s magazine. Now, I imagine I can’t go into any details about what pictures were being considered, so I will keep the four pieces anonymous, naming them p1, p2, p3, and p4. I’ll link to them when the magazine is released.
The Art Group (the team that handles all of the art submissions. Among the others, Short Story Group, Poetry Group, Layout Group, and my very own PR group) selected three pictures for the potential cover. The leader of the group, offered a very coherent statement for these three, for both aesthetic and marketing reasons. Personally I agreed with him.
I’ll give my teacher credit. Apparently last year, he had to do a lot of stuff, but this year we have a lot more students, so he’s trying to be hands-off. And for that, he left the room for the vote.
The first picture was ruled out as it was too similar to year one’s cover (I felt p2 was too similar to year 2). We held a quick vote where 4 or so people voted for p2, and almost everyone else voted for p3. We didn’t get a count for p3, so we held it again. Again, p3 won.
The head of poetry wanted to add p4 to the vote. So we tallied up votes for p2, p3, and p4. P4 only got 2 or 3 votes, p2 got a couple, but p3 won yet again. Head of poetry really didn’t like p3, so AFTER the vote, she decided to change her vote.
Guess what, we took p4 out of it and we voted on p2 and p3 alone again. Want to take a guess what happened? No, actually p3 won yet again by 1 vote. Looked like p3 was going to win 7 to 6. But oh no! Head of short story has to vote for some reason. It’s not that he wanted to, he actually wanted noooo part of it, but he was eventually broken, and he said to give it to the picture without 7.
That folks, made it a tie. One of the members of the art group was gone, but it sounded like she would have voted for p3. The head of art couldn’t hold her proxy though. Now, this has taken a while, so the teacher came back. Teacher teacher, it’s a tie, you have to decide which to use. Where’s that facepalm emoticon? Now you’re on the money as to which he chose… P2.
And that’s how I’m going to end this. I ended up staying for the aftermath of this and was a good 20 minutes late for my next class.

Bloggaday 21 – Avatar Re-envisioned Coming to a Blog Near You

Bloggaday 21 – Avatar Re-envisioned Coming to a Blog Near You

Alright folks. I saw the cover for 2012 (http://twitpic.com/170x9c), and the first I thought was if they decided to make the watertribes the antagonists in the Last Airbender movie. Having the in my head for a couple of hours, I decided to write that.
So it is time for me to take up the fanfic mantle and put pixels to the page in a new TWC. I figure if I write a story to somewhat mirror what happens in the series, I can release them along with TheAvatarJorney (http://www.theotaku.com/worlds/avatarjourney ), but given the necessary changes I would have to make, that could cause some problems.
There are of course bum loads of problems. There is a reason why the fire nation is the antagonistic civilization in the story, so it will require some creativity to spin this believably. I’m already churning some ideas on that. I won’t go into details on that, but will mention that it’s going to be Fire Tribes and Water Nation.
The next problem, lies I the Earth Kingdom ad Air Nomads. With Katara and Sokka being from the Fire Tribes, Aang would still learn water next, not fire. I could make Aang an earthbender (which given the couple hundred words I wrote last night, would fit nicely), but that brings some other problems.
The Earth Nation acts as the major population sources for the series. Some temples can’t really do replace that. Plus, I have some problems in general about the temples. They are all monks, not families. I would take from this, that airbenders are born outside of the Air Nomads. So, if the temples are only where airbenders stay, not born, how can wiping them out, wipe out the airbending gene, which is already in the world. Airbenders should still be born. Maybe I just don’t get how it works in Avatar.
So if I make Aang an earthbender, I could make them the monks of the world and have airbenders have a thriving kingdom. Again, though, there are reasons why Aang is an airbender. Damn be those reasons. Toph will be problematic though, since the blind earthbender was major point. So I’ll have to figure this out as one the first major problems. I may have to rearrange the order he learns the elements and just settle with the established storyline.
I think there were a few other things I wanted to walk though, but I’ll just stop here. I’ll post what I have written on Wednesday for another edition of PWNED so I’ll post anything else then.

Bloggaday 20 - BJ, BD?

Bloggaday 20 - BJ, BD?
Hello, My name is Bond James Bond Dysart. No, I’m not trying to be clever. My parents were huge 007 fans, and they actually named me: first name – Bond, middle name – James, second middle name – Bond, and last name – Dysart.
I don’t know, sounds like child cruelty to me. A while back I decided to shorten it and just go by BJ. It’s the damndest thing though; all my friends say I make a great birthday present.

Oh, the lengths I will go to to make a stupid joke.

Bloggaday 19 – An H?

Bloggaday 19 – An H?
One thing I’ve always found somewhat annoying. (Yes, three weeks into the Bloggaday, and I’m already scraping the bottom of the barrel with things that “somewhat annoy me”) is when people use the article “an” before words that begin with an “h.” It’s not so bad in typed form, because you don’t hear it even though I won’t do it, but when someone actually says it, it is grating.
Now, the reason why “an”’s are used is because in older English, these “h”’s weren’t pronounced. You can still see this in words that still have that silent “h” like herb. I’ll say, “an herb,” because with that vowel sound, it would be odd to say “a herb.” But by damn, I’m putting my foot down on this “an h” nonsense. If it’s silent, feel free to put “an.” But don’t use “an” if you are pronouncing the “h.” It’s a consonant people, and you don’t use “an” to precede a consonant.

You know what, I’ll extend this to people who really throw the “h” in words that start with “wh” like “whiskey” and “why.” Now, I’m not a maniac, I don’t mind the use of extra “h” (yes, this is where I’m drawing the maniac line). But still, something needed to be said.

Let’s recap. Do not say, “An Herring is a bird that loves a herb every once and a while.” “H” is a consonant sound, and thus, shouldn’t be preceded by an “an.”

Bloggaday 18 – The Fun of BDSM

Bloggaday 18 – The Fun of BDSM

Some time ago, I took a creative writing. Well, I’m going dispute that it was a creative writing class. It was more of a lit class where we learned about poems. Which is rather annoying when you want to take a creative writing class.
Anyways, this Bloggaday is not to biatch about that. I am here to tell you about my super awesome, really my FEANBA, shirt that I just got from (Zazzle link -> http://www.zazzle.com/drop_the_cow_and_try_bdsm_tshirt-235088587642267940) This particular shirt has its origins in that creative writing class.
The first half of the class was poetry. One of my poems was a limerick called The Farmers in the Lady’s Night

Limerick
The Farmer in the Lady’s Night

A farmer walked down the foreign street,
But could not see a single stalk of wheat
Sunset, a girl said to him.
Ten gets ya BDSM
But he replied, Cow! Not Bean D’rived Soy Meat!

Last semester I actually took one of my old white t-shirts, a black sharpie, and a homemade stencil of printer paper. It came out looking about as good as the previous paragraph makes it sound, but now I one of dem dare professional lookin ones.
The original shirt actually had line changeup. A common change on my part, “Bean D’rived Soy Meat!” became Bio Degradable Soy Meat!” I don’t think it is quite as good though.
I’ll get pictures up of both shirts one of these days to make the compariso because opposing popular belief, I’m not a buff black guy. Maybe I can even squeeze another Bloggaday out of it.
