Bloggaday 198 – July and August Fitness Report

Bloggaday 198 – July and August Fitness Report

Hello and welcome to the super fantastic collision of the fitness reports for July and August. The reason why both of the months are being combine is because when I would have done the July update, I was taking my week off from the Bloggaday, and while I have my weights recorded and checked my body fat %, I didn’t think about taking any of my measurements.

When I started doing these updates, I was also going to report on a special workout that I devised. If you want info on that, you can go here -> http://thebloggaday.blogspot.com/2010/06/bloggaday-110-new-exercise-regime-for.html and to see a month that had that information, you can go here -> http://bit.ly/aslupC.

Unfortunately, I haven’t been doing that workout for the last couple of months. I feel weird exercising like that in the house when there are people home and for the last two months, that’s pretty much been the case.

Now, that’s not to say I’ve just been sitting on my bum for the last two months.* In June, I wanted to incorporate some Tai Chi, Pilates, and Yoga into the warm-up and cool-down portions of the workout, and I’ve been doing yoga for the last couple of months. I’ve even been to a couple of classes.**

While I haven’t been doing my work out routines, I have been enjoying the yoga. It’s actually a pretty good work out. I’m actually still a little sore from Sunday’s class and today is Tuesday.***

I’m hoping in the end of September, I can get into a yoga class at CSUSB. The class I want is full, but I’m figuring I can probably add. I don’t have any classes after that, so I’d also like to hit the gym they have there afterwards. It’s free to students, so I might as well take advantage of it. While yoga has been counteracting my sloth that last month or two, hopefully I can bust through the plateau I’ve been on for the last few months. I guess you’ll find out when I do in a month or two.

So here are my stats for the last two months.

* Well, I did kind of sit on my bum July, hence the 5-pound weight gain.

** I’m going to write a Bloggaday about it in a few days. You should read it. It has a twist ending where I get pulled over by a cop. Absolutely no lie.

*** Note to self: Eat after the hour and a half class, not before.

Bloggaday 197 – SotW 14

Bloggaday 197 – SotW 14

Chuck: Hello once again, Bloggaday Readers. I am, of course, Chuck, and with me as always is Tom.

Tom: Hello, folks.

Chuck: Well, Tom, we’ve been going a bit off-track lately, so perhaps we should get right down to the Song of the Week.

Tom: That sounds great. Go right ahead.

Chuck: You know what? As an olive branch, I’d like you to take my turn announcing the song this week.

Tom: Why, thank you, Chuck. You’re going to get me tearing up a little bit here.

Chuck: Here you go.

Tom: Thanks. And this week’s SotW is…

Paul: dududududududududududu

Tom: What the hell?!?

Chuck: Haha.

Tom: Jeeze. Where’s the real print-out for the SotW this week?

Chuck: Oh, goodness. There isn’t one. David never sent us any email.

Tom: Alright, I’LL get ahold of him. Call douchebag

Phone: Calling: Chuck Der

Chuck: HEY!

Tom: Cancel… See, that’s how you be funny. Call Bloggaday author

Phone: Calling David Dysart

Chuck: Oh, man. You so should have seen your face.

Tom: Yeah, I don’t like having to play the straight man to an idiot. Is that why you just wanted to get to it?

Chuck: Yeah. There was no way I was going to be able to keep a straight face through the whole thing.

Tom: It wasn’t even funny.

Chuck: Ohoho

Tom: You are a sad little man.

David: Thanks, Tom. I never tire of hearing that.

Tom: Oh, no not you, David. I was talking to Chuck.

David: Oh, okay. I thought you were calling about me not sending you the song for this week.

Tom: Actually, that IS why we are calling.

David: Oh, so what was that whole bit about a “sad little man?”

Tom: Chuck was TRYING to be funny by giving me a blank paper that supposedly had the song for this week.

David: But that’s not funny though.

Tom: That’s what I thought but he’s still chuckling a little bit about it.

Chuck: Hoho, anyways. What’s the song this week David?

David: Uh, that’s a tough one. I’ve got three new songs that all deserve the spot.

Tom: Well, what are the, David?

David: Well, at the beginning of the week, “F**K YOU” by Cee Lo Green Was definitely an early favorite. I was listening to it quite a bit, but then I grabbed then I grabbed a few more new songs.

Tom: That’s great David, bu

David: That’s where this whole thing gets complicated. I usually put songs in my iTunes so that the one I will want to listen to most will be at the top of the playlist, and I’ll hear it more than the others.

The top three were going to be “Lover, Lover,” “If I Die Young,” then “Get Off on the Pain.” Well, I ended up switching “If I Die” and “Lover, Lover.” Great call on my part since I’ve been really digging the Band Perry Song. “Get Off on the Pain” though has been one heck of a sleeper hit.

Tom: That’s great, David, but I just wanted to know the songs, not their life story with you.

David: Sorry about that, Tom.

Tom: It’s fine. I just think it’s ridiculous that the comedic relief anchor has been having to carry the show today. That’s not why I became the comic relief. I don’t like this!

David: I’m sure you and Chuck will get everything straitened out before the next Song of the Week.

Chuck: I’ll do my part to “carry” the show. David…

David: What’s up, Chuck?

Chuck: We’re actually over our 500 word word count, so we need an answer. We’re about to go off the internet.

David: Okay. Jeeze. Um… You know what? “Get off on the Pain”

Tom: Alright, David, that sounds great. Thanks a lot.

Chuck: Great choice, David.

David: No you didn’t let me finish!

Tom: It was great having you on again. Be sure to call in.

David: I was gonna say tha

Chuck: Was he trying to say something?

Tom: Oh, I’m sure it was nothing.

Chuck: Okay. So, folks, you heard it straight from the horse’s mouth.

Tom: And the cliché douche bag’s own unoriginal terminology.

Chuck: Gary Allen has taken this week’s Song of the Week. I hope you all had as much fun reading this weekly Bloggaday segment as we did making it for you.

Tom: Why do you hate our readers, Chuck?

Chuck: What?

Tom: You didn’t ACTUALLY have fun doing this, did you?

Chuck: Do you hate me that much?

Tom: Actually, I think I do

Bloggaday 196 – NNP 8: An NNP Wrap-Up

Bloggaday 196 – NNP 8: An NNP Wrap-Up

Anyways, this has definitely been much rawer, uncensored, and more serious set of Bloggadays than I usually write. I would say it’s a growth. I’m certain a case could be made since this-> http://thebloggaday.blogspot.com/2010/02/bloggaday-2.htmlwas the second Bloggaday I wrote, but these might just be more out of character for me.

You know what? I don’t know if that’s accurate either though. A couple of weeks ago, I wrote a Bloggaday that’ll end up getting split into two posts with room to grow. I’m not going to post it for a while, but there are reasons for that. I actually prefaced it with:

“Hmm, I don’t think that was a word, but I imagine this will still be one of my more serious Bloggadays.”

Since I wrote that, I think I’ve done a few slightly more serious Bloggadays. Okay, I just looked back over the last couple dozen Bloggadays. I haven’t POSTED any more-serious Bloggadays, but I’m pretty sure I’ve started a few, but I have dozens and dozens of started ones that I’m not going to look at right now. It might be nice if I start mixing it up with some actual content in my content. A little throw-back to my “hard-hitting expose” days.*

If you’re not a fan of the more serious face of Bloggaday, fear not, it’s still a ridiculous project featuring ridiculous content for ridiculous people. Now, if don’t like crafts, I would probably skip the next month of Bloggaday, because I plan on milking as much content as I can out of the katana, shuriken, kunai, ANBU, etc things I’ve been doing and plan on doing lately.

I will throw a little update on the katana front though. I just finished the woodworking on my 5th particleboard katana. You can check my facebook/photobucket links in my links sections if you want pictures of my previous ones. I shaved an hour and a half off my time from the last one. I did this one from pencil to pre-paint in 7 hours.

Now, that means I haven’t painted it yet. And I won’t paint for a while. That’s because I messed up and basically made it a left-handed katana.** Because of that, I don’t plan on keeping it. Once I find someone who wants it,*** I’ll get a color scheme from them and then go to town with my new**** painting method. Since I won’t be keeping it, I have to make myself a new one. Sadly, I need to make a material run though.

Haha. I stretched 6 Bloggadays into 8. I’d say give me some bread, fish, and 5,000 hungry people, but I ain’t Kanye West.*****

My Final Thought tonight is a commentary on Twitter

I’m guessing that by putting “Behind the Scenes” in

Bloggaday 195 – NNP 7: Behind the Scenes of NNP

Bloggaday 195 – NNP 7: Behind the Scenes of NNP

It’s kind of funny.* This was all going to be one Bloggaday. It just kept going though. Basically at the end of the first Bloggaday I wrote this ->

“but I’m not sure how I could NOT post this. The whole uplifting thing has played a pretty dominant thought in my noggin for a week or two now. I’ve been playing with the personal evaluation today, and the additional reflection is what ended up prompting me to write this. I’ve also incorporated some other stuff.”

I ended up wanting to add a bit to the middle, which ended up ballooning into 2,000 words of stumblemucking along a train of thought. It was originally much tighter. I was going to hit the cosplay groups and how the sasu/narus are couples. Then I was going to do the self-evaluation, joke/self-reflection. I was also putting dashes of little things that I had thought about putting in Bloggadays like that whole thing about me not being able to write completely content-uncensored Bloggadays, which drove me to write the paragraph I just quoted. I think I settled that I had to post all of this once I hit like 1,500 words. It’s just way too much content to just go to waste. It also gives a good look into my own noggin and perspectives, something you can only really get a glimpse of through my regular Bloggaday content because you’re getting it second-hand through the perspectives as seen in my everyday writings. This was much more first-hand brain prodding. I don’t know. I’m still a little gun-shy about it, but it’s probably for the best. Like I said though, it’s mostly just the neurotic rambling of me at like 1 in the morning.

The nice thing is that this is 6* Bloggadays. I can post these and a SotW and finally be caught up from my week of no posting. I will say though, there is a lost SotW. A week ago, during my sword construction, I never picked a song because nothing came up. Then last Monday I did 13 instead of 12 for some reason, so I’ll just skip that week and pick a song for this week. That plus these six and I’m set. Yay. ^.^

The Song of the Week has been weird lately. Since I’ve been a week behind in my posts, I would have to write an SotW a week after I had listened to the music that would have generated the post. Now I could have just written an extra one so I wouldn’t have to tap-dance a recall, but if reading this string of posts has taught you anything, it has to be that I’m lazy. Plus, the Song of the Week is more of just a vehicle to deliver Tom and Chuck content. I’ve already got ideas brewing for tomorrow. I’ll be making a guest appearance since I have 3 songs I can’t choose from for this week’s song.

What kills though me is the fact that most of this was written at like 1 or 2 o’clock in the morning. At some point I annotated something with “** Hopefully,” but I have absolutely no idea what it was for. I never marked anything in the word doc with “**”, and I don’t know what it could have been tagged for. It would have been during some time in the first Bloggaday, but nothing really seems to fit. I suppose it will remain as one of the great Bloggaday mysteries, perhaps the FIRST Bloggaday mystery. “Perhaps?” you ask? I suppose that’s just the second great Bloggaday… or maybe the third. HEY! That’s the fourth great Bloggaday mystery. Or is it the third?

Aww, snap. What that? I have to post 8 Blogadays? And I decided to do this Sunday instead of Monday? Well, I still have enough content for an 8th and final Bloggaday. I’ll be right back. In the mean time, look at this:

Spaces and Expose rocks

Spaces and Expose rocks

For Bloggadays 189-196. I'm starting to use Mac's Spaces, which I used extensively for the NNP publishing. I used Expose also, but it's more to just give you an idea of what I had going. A lot of the open windows have multiple tabs open, and I had tons of more windows open, especially when I took a break, but I wasn't thinking about taking a pic like this.

* I really don’t want to know how many times I wrote, “it’s kind of funny.” I think I even tossed an “amusing” in there once.

** As I was putting these into their own documents to post I stretched a couple of them, making this 7 rather than 6 like when I had originally wrote this portion

Bloggaday 194 – NNP 6: Bloggaday no equal Diary. I Swear. Pt. 2

Bloggaday 194 – NNP 6: Bloggaday no equal Diary. I Swear. Pt. 2

I suppose the reason why this all bugged me enough to give it a 500+ words rant among these Bloggadays actually stems form an earlier event. When I first started writing stories, I wrote, oh jeeze, what was it? Okay, I found it. It was in my old PC folder -> Story -> 1st. that’s right folks. First bit of longer fiction ever. I went over what got me into writing on another Bloggaday, so I won’t go into it here.*

Well, for my story, I would print a page off and give a copy for each of my parents to read. It was a mystery piece, but I paced it so at the end of every page there was a cliffhanger. I thought** it rather clever. It was cool because my dad would take them to work and send me an email after he finished reading them, and it would be a really cool email that he would send me.

Well, fast forward a bit. I don’t know if I took a couple days off or what happened. I ended up printing the last 4 pages but I might have just busted them all out in one sitting (The whole thing is 5,500 words, but the font was HUGE. I think with my ever-changing format to cliffhang each page, it ended up being like 25 pages. That’s what 200 a page? So, I print out the last 4 pages of “The After Dinner Party,” and gave them to him.

A while goes by, and I was curious about what he thought about the ending of the story since he hadn’t brought it up. He didn’t know what I meant. I don’t know if he paid so little attention to the story that he thought he had finished it before the last couple of pages or that it didn’t dawn on him to read the pages because it wasn’t a significant enough thing to register on his consciousness, but at that point I decided that if reading the last 6th of a story that he was already like 4k+ invested into, and the story was of such little concern to him I wasn’t going to bother him to read anything else I would ever write. Pretty much just completely destroyed the cool emails he had sent me.

Holy snapfooey. I wonder if that’s why I’m so weird about self-promoting myself to people I know? Jeeze. Talk therapy works I suppose. I’m a better psychologist than I thought.

Of course, he’s going to be on facebook and this’ll be the one Bloggaday he reads. “I don’t know, David. It kind of seemed like a diary to me.” /facepalm
