Bloggaday 299 – Adding Color to the Gene Pool pt 2

Have you met “Bloggaday 294 – Adding Color to the Gene Pool PART !”?

http://tiny.cc/Bloggaday294

So, quick story thus far:

Amongst the battlefield of hyperlinks, Bloggaday Author David Dysart has admitted to his Bloggaday Readers that his “types” are redheads and Asian women. Upon this explosive revelation, he realized that his attraction, the most basic of human motivations, may have been subliminally altered by popular culture and his choices of televised entertainment.

While he used humor, a classic psychological defense mechanism, he has promised his readers an actual refutation to this conclusion.

And now, the exciting conclusion of Adding Color to the Gene Pool

So my argument that I’m not just another subliminally mindf#@%ed American*, is that I’m not a huge Blonde guy. Hmm, perhaps I should rephrase that.**

I think we can all agree that even with the emergence of Hollywood hotty Angelina Jolie,*** according to the American media, the “perfect woman” is tall, blonde, and more than a little top-heavy. While I’m not hating on this idealized gal, it’s not really on the top of my list.

If we’re going by hair color, my preference is actually redhead, brunette, then blonde.

Enough of that though, I keep getting off-track and I don’t want this to stretch into a 3rd part. Before I go on though, I need to set the stage a little bit more. One day, I plan on having kids.

There you go, stage set. Now to reveal the meaning of this Bloggaday’s title.

As I said earlier, I’m blonde. I’m also white.**** Now I’m no biology major, but that pretty much makes me milk in the gene pool. A drop of strawberry or caramel syrup will rather drastically change the color. Now, I’m not about to go on a rant about blonde hair and blue eyes. I’m saying that I’m pretty much of the pansy of genetics. If I had kids with a nice Asian woman, the kids are going to a bit more Asian that white.*****

Now, this wouldn’t bother me, but Asian guys are really kind of meh to me. I don’t know… They just kind of bug me a little bit. The same with ginger guys. I’m just not a fan. Dah, especially longhaired hippie ginger dudes. More than a little creepy to me.****** I suppose if I had nothing but daughters, then I would be fine. I just don’t need some child of the corn coming and taking a scythe to me.*******

Well, on that note, I welcome you back to the Bloggaday.

Chuck: Hello, Bloggaday Readers, and welcome to the 3rd and final segment of Song of the Week 28. I am Chuck.

Tom: And I’m Tom.

Chuck: Well, before we find out who won the coveted Song of the Week title, perhaps we should go over the songs vying for the spot.

Tom: Sounds good to me. First up, we had

Chuck: Well, since you harped on Nirvana in Song of the Week 27, I’m guessing it will be either “Come As You Are” or “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” but which one will it be?

Tom: Actually, the SotW is…

Paul: dudududududududu

Tom: Touch, Peel and Stand

By

Days of the New

Chuck: Wait, wuh?

Tom: That’s right, Days of the New pulled this one out.

Chuck: Then what is all of this about Nirvana?

Tom: Well, this week has brought us two Nirvana songs and then next week will be 4 more songs from that particular band.

Chuck: Care to give us a little preview?

Tom: I’d love to, but we’re out of words.

Chuck: … No, we’re not.

Tom: Are you sure?

Chuck: … Yeah

Tom: Really?

Chuck: We’re not even at 300 words yet.

Tom: I think I have to question your assessment of our word count.

Chuck: You can question me all you want, but the fact remains that we’re nowhere near 500 words.

Tom: I just think you’re wrong.

Chuck: I’m not wro… Wait a minute. Are you trying to fluff the content until we get to 500?

Tom: And I would have gotten away with it too, if it wasn’t for you meddling SotWer’s.

Paul: Hey guys, how about this? We end early this week and just run long next week to make up for it.

Tom: Sounds good to me. Close us out, Chuck. I’m going to go get a bear.

Chuck: Okay. Thank you for joining us, Blo… Wait, a bear or a beer?

Tom: You can’t shake a beer without making a mess.

Chuck: Huh?

Tom: Well, a guess shaking a bear will make a mess as well, but it’s a funner mess.

Chuck: I have no clue what you’re talking about.

Tom: It’s probably for the best. Just do the outro.

Chuck: Well, thank you, Bloggaday Readers, for joining us for Song of the Week 28. I hope you enjoyed it more than I did. We’ll see you all next week for Bloggaday 29. This is Chuck, wishing you a great week.

Oh, jeeze. I’m going to fail this friggin paper…

And welcome back to the Santos Manuel Student Union: An Observation series of Bloggadays. Before we get into the verbose descriptions today, I want to make another little note about this paper

This is for the upper division writing class for the social sciences. These classes have their own writing center to help the students. Apparently though, you have to make an appointment 3 quarters in advance to see them. This is the second paper I’ve tried to get in there, but their appointments have been booked both times.

Anyways, onto the paper wracking my nerves!

Need to play catch-up? No problem! Here are the links to all of the Santos Manuel Bloggadays.

http://tiny.cc/Bloggaday325 January 5

Immediately in the great room, the furniture falls at odds. A pair of matching couches sits a few feet from a semicircle of chairs with a completely different pattern. The couches are clad in domineering forest green squares with a scratchy and beaten tan background. The chairs on the other hand are comprised of a gritty tan and a submissive green that offers its services as an accent rather than dominating the upholstery. The stylistic confusion continues with the rest of the room. Along one wall are half a dozen dark, leather chairs. To accent these, a pair of golden ottomans sits at attention, their color reminiscent of the sands from the great empire that they share their namesake. Other groupings of chairs dot the circumference of the room to offer ample seating for both small groups and large gatherings. The larger groups though must traverse a quick trip of steps that set off their accommodations from the rest of the space. The crowning piece of furniture and at the center of it all is the great round seat. It sits in the middle of the room, forming a circle pointing its sitters outward to the rest of the population and leaving a gap of unutilized space at its epicenter.

Accompanying the surrounding chairs and odd bits of furniture is the occasional plant. The potted plants offer no more conciseness in species than the seating does. The integration of so much diversity though reflects the school’s demographics and continued unity of the student body. The entire design of the building reflects the everyday interactions of the students who use the Santos Manuel Student Union.

With nothing left of the décor to offer the eyes, one’s attention easily drifts up from the scene. That same off-white that can be seen around the building makes up the concave roof that bulges outward. A latticework of steel supports and lights connect the rolling roof with the great white pillars that sprout out at the balcony of the second floor. The seemingly chaotic design offers the support necessary to keep the building upright and safe from everything including the winds and earthquakes that visit the area so often.

Chuck: Hello, Bloggaday Readers, and welcome to part two of Song of the Week 28. I am Chuck.

Chuck: TOM!

Tom: Alright, I guess I can explain now.

Chuck: As long as you can keep it clean, yes you can.

Tom: Well, this week’s music is full of heavy hitters. On any given week, these songs would be SotW’s without any problems.

Chuck: That’s why you’re so excited? Because you like the songs this week?

Tom: Well, yeah. These are all songs that would take home an SotW award, but only 1 will.

Chuck: Wow, that was a lot of buildup for that.

Tom: Should we just get to our songs this week then?

Chuck: Sure, why not.

Tom: Well, frack you and our first song is

Holy Diver

By

Ronnie James Dio

Chuck: Wooooooooo

Tom: …

Chuck: …

Tom: “Holy Diver” should have been download last week, replacing “Suicide Solutions.”

Chuck: Wait, is “Holy Diver” what you mistook the Ozzy song for?

Tom: No, but Holy Diver probably would have been the SotW if it would have been added then instead of now.

Chuck: So what’s our next song?

Tom: You know what? I’m glad you asked.

Chuck: I’m sure you are, but I don’t want to come back tomorrow for part 3, so can we just get on with it.

Tom: Never fear. I can guarantee that we won’t be back tomorrow.

Chuck: Well, thank you.

Tom: Part 2 of “SPF PWND: Santos Manuel Student Union: An Observation” will be tomorrow. We’ll be back Thursday to do part 3 of SotW 28.

Chuck: …

Tom: Anyways… Our next song is

Come As You Are

By

Nirvana

Chuck: I guess we should have seen that coming since last week you said we were heading into a Nirvana-heavy set of songs. What’s next?

Tom: Straight to the point… I like that… It’s a good quality to have… Don’t let this town take that away fro-

Chuck: TOM!

Tom: Sorry. Next song is…

Smells Like Teen Spirit

By

Nirvana

Chuck: Aaaaand another Nirvana song. Shocker.

Tom: Yeah, it’s actually kind of surprising how much Nirvana gets played by KCAL 96.7.

Chuck: And what possible relevance does that have with the SotW?

Tom: Absolutely none, but I’m just trying to piss you off by stretching 28 out as lon-

Chuck: TOM!

Tom: Fine, our last song this week is…

Touch, Peel and Stand

By

Days of the New

Chuck: Hey, you know what? I think I know that song.

Tom: Really?

Chuck: Yeah. It’s about drug abuse, right?

Tom: Hmm, actually I think it could be. It could just as easily be like “Stupid Boy” by Keith Urban or a song about self in general.

Chuck: And on that note, we need to end. Thank you Bloggaday Readers for joining us this fine Tuesday for Song of the Week 28, part 2. We’ll be taking a short break as to not interrupt the Prose Wed-Nes-day, but we’ll be back Thursday for part 3… OUR LAST Bloggaday for Song of the Week 28.

Tom: Okay, okay, okay. Have a great Twednesday, everyone.

Chuck: Really? Twednesday?

Tom: What’s wrong with you? First you hate on the Muesday, and now you don’t like Twednesday?

Chuck: It’s stupid and childish

Tom: And haters got to hate.

Chuck: Hello Blogga-

Tom: Oh my f--k--g f--k! Do we have a week of f--k--g songs for you folks!

Chuck: Come on, Tom. Language!

Tom: I’m sorry, Chuck. This was just a huge week for the Bloggaday’s music world.

Tom: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I’m just hyperventilating a little bit.

Chuck: Well, take your ti-

Tom: Okay, I’m good.

Chuck: So what did you want to say?

Tom: Well, you know how we pick the songs, right? Well thi-

Chuck: Actually, no, I don’t.

Tom: And you have the gull to call me unprofessional.

Chuck: Do you want to just get on with it?

Tom: Yeah, yeah, whatever. Well, to bring you, the Bloggaday Readers, the freshest possible SotW content, Bloggaday Author, David Dysart has authorized the acquisition of 3 to 4 new songs each week.

Chuck: Wait, 4 bucks a week? That’s going to get a bit pricey after a while, isn’t it?

Tom: Well, it’s not like he’s breaking the bank paying us for the SotW.

Chuck: True, but I wonder if he could get some kind of deal with iTunes for a discount. You know what? You could show some initiative and try to get that set up.

Tom: Thaaaat wouldn’t be a good idea.

Chuck: Why not?

Tom: Let’s just say Bloggaday 152 has been put to some good use.

Chuck: Jeeze, Tom. I don’t even know how my own segment goes. How am I supposed to know what some random Bloggaday is?

Tom: Well, that’s not important. The bottom line is that iTunes won’t be giving us money anytime soon. Though I suppose we could link to their place of business at the end of the SotW

Chuck: AT this point, I don’t really care. Just tell me why you were so excited.

Tom: Well, each week, we get 3 or 4 songs to act as our weekly SotW pool.

Chuck: Mhmm. We’ve been mentioning the other songs lately.

Tom: Well, usually only 1 or 2 songs are really competitive for the SotW title.

Chuck: And the other songs?

Tom: They’re basically just good songs that fit well with the contenders. Last week for example, there were 3 Ozzy songs. One of them was going to get the spot. “In A Gadda Da Vida” was added because it played well with the others. It was pulling some major odds as a song to actually win.

Chuck: And is all of this going somewhere?

Tom: Well, this week, I said screw it.

Chuck: You said screw what?

Tom: Well, I make all of the official Bloggaday pickups, so I went balls out with the songs this week.

Chuck: I don’t know if I really like where this is going.

Tom: Then maybe you should take some time and introduce this week’s Bloggaday

Chuck: Sure. Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to this, the 28th Song of the Week special. With me as always is Tom, and I am your host Chuck.

Tom: And that’s 500. Close us out, Chuck.

Chuck: But I just opened us up.

Tom: Well, it looks like the SotW is going multi-postal.

Chuck: Oi, I don’t think I like the sound of THAT either.

Tom: Just close us out.

Chuck: Thank you, Bloggaday Readers. Apparently we all need to come back tomorrow to find out what this spectacular news is. We will also have our song presentations as well, so it’s surely going to be a can’t-miss Bloggaday event. This is Chuck, signing out.

Tom: Thanks everybody.
