Bloggaday 121 – My First Earthquake Break
So last night California had an earthquake. It happened down in San Diego, but since it was almost a 6, I felt it up here towards Los Angeles. But it wasn’t big though, so there wasn’t any reason to freak out or anything. No reason to jump into any doorways or hide beside heavy furniture.
It’s just one of those situations where someone asks, “Did you feel that?” and you stop moving until you do. Inevitably you’ve got to go online and see how big it was. I hopped on http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqscanv/FaultMaps/116-33.html. Then the Tv cuts out to the News who has devotes a half hour to it.
Not only is this breaking news, they also have to get a shot of their lighting equipment slightly rocking due to the quake. Then of course they have to call someone who works for them that lives relatively close to where the earthquake happened.
I don’t know, would people who don’t live in California freak out at a small quake? I guess it wasn’t THAT small if you were down at the Cali-Mexi border, but it was pretty small by the time it got up here. It looks like there were a few smaller earthquakes that followed the bigger one. Don’t recall feeling those ones though.
It is kind of funny. I hopped onto twitter when I had the quake sight pulled up because I wanted to get an update on the closing Scott Sigler Fan Video contest (my entry is here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1YRG1jkBd1M). After I closed Twitter, I figured I would post a tweet to this effect, but Twitter was over capacity, so I don’t know if a bunch of people had the same idea, but I can’t imagine there are that many people in the area who wanted to tweet about an earthquake. At any rate, it went down for some reason, and it did so for a while.
This Bloggaday is actually rather a changeup. I had written something else, but decided to do this. Given that I have the clipshow tomorrow and the Leverge fic the day after, it will probably be a while before I post it. Well, that’s about it. I did pop this to the end from the would-be post
I know I’ve been a bit long on these Bloggadays lately, so I think I’ll just end this one here. There’s a very long one coming Wednesday. It’s a clip show* and I’m already at 1900 words with only 87 Bloggadays covered. Plus, I think everyone can agree with the sediment.

* I still haven’t figured out if I will keep it to one post or not. It really is just too long.
