Bloggaday 324 – Facebook Dramadies

Bloggaday 324 – Facebook Dramadies
By David “Marketing Ploy” Dysart

Facebook is great. It’s a source of great amusement. Other than the Bloggaday, I don’t do THAT much on it. When I get on, I’ll scan the posts on my home page though, and I’ve come to enjoy the posts of somebody on my friends list. Well, there’s a couple good “feeds,” but one of them is a bit of a soap opera.
I think the most amusing thing is the fact that I don’t really know this particular person. A few months ago, I started playing Zombie Farm. If you have facebook friends who also play, you get special things when you log into the game everyday, so people post on the facebook page looking for people to friend. The dramady comes the couple of folks I friended for this.
So now, I go through my home posts and get a stereotypical facebooker, a melodramatic woman always complaining about the guys she goes out with and her life in general. In and of itself, it’s amusing to actually see a Taylor Swift song in the making, but there’s a kicker…
There’s a guy who’s been posting comments on her updates lately. For all I know, he may have been posting for a long time, but I’m only just starting to actually read her updates with any real interest. It’s hit-you-over-the-head obvious though that he’s head-over-heels in love with this girl. Now, as I said, I don’t know these people, so I don’t know the relationship between them. Whether she like him, knows that he even likes her, whatever the case, it’s still funny to read as it happens. I guess funny isn’t the right word. It’s more of an amazement.
I imagine this is what people are talking about when they say some folks are a little too open and share a bit too much on social media.
It makes me want to create one of those faux reality shows. You know, combine it with the web series thing that seems to be picking up steam lately. This is what these two feel like. It’s not, but I mean, come one, who has a dog that tries to commit suicide? Again, I’m hesitant at calling it “funny,” it’s just like the television came to life and got a Facebook account*.
Now this whole thing probably either sounds kind of messed up or you’re not really giving it a second thought. If you’re the former, I’ll agree with you. The thing is though, it’s one of those instances where you either have to laugh or cry. You either let the face value of what’s unfolding make you sad and feel for that person, or you try to spin it. You try to use years of TV experience to desensitize yourself. You keep it at arms-length and find the ridiculousness in it. In this, you can laugh at it
After all, 10 years from now, if this person gets shown these facebook memoirs that our status update button has become then they’ll laugh at it. It’s just a phase. We all have those things we go through that we can look back at laugh. If you don’t, just give it a good 10 years. You will then.

New to the Bloggaday? These are the essential posts to see
158 – Boxer V Brief – Short, concise joke machine and a DYNAMIC ENTRANCE! to my favorite Bloggadays of the Second Trigaday
http://tiny.cc/Bloggaday158
159 – A Phthalates-filled Sbarro Breadstick – This was just a funny Bloggaday despite the essence being something no one will get unless the look up what a phthalate is
http://tiny.cc/Bloggaday159
174 – FNtCCA,aToTbDD– While I think it’s clear I rarely EDIT the Bloggaday, this train-of-thought post shows how much I have to FILTER it…
http://tiny.cc/Bloggaday174
183 – SotW 13 – This one had it all. Pretty much every bit that’s been a major player in the SotW made its way into this one, so it’s a good one to try.

134 – SotW 5 – This particular Song of the Week featured the characters a bit truer to their original concept. After a while, I started liking Tom too much and changed him a bit which caused changes to Chuck.

227 – PWND: TSHBRotCCPS pt16 was some solid fiction content. Plus, that was probably some of the finest Final Thought I’ve ever thought up.

* I’ve actually tried something like this. The first couple of weeks of the Bloggaday has a few attempts**
** Anyways, I took a show and then set up facebook and twitter accounts for them and then wrote blogs that they would have written if they were talking about what happened in individual episodes and tweeted like they doing so as the episode went along.***
*** I think it’s actually quite brilliant, especially as a marketing ploy for shows to use social media to advertise for their shows.

Close the screen, the awesome’s getting out
