Bloggaday 337 – In Yo Face! Pt 1

Now I’m not talking to my fine Bloggaday Readers. That is a big, fat “In Yo Face” to the man. The Verizon Man. They tried to keep our bandwidth down. They tried to work their voodoo magic to keep us under their thumb. With misinformation, they tried…

Yeah, that was melodramatic, so please don’t sue me for slander, Verizon… or send your Verizoninjas after me.

So despite the first couple of paragraphs, Verizon is cool. They came out and upgraded our phone and internet service to fios,* AND it’ll be a cheaper monthly payment, or at least, that’s what I’m told.
Fios is friggin awesome. I’ll get that out of the way right now. Unfortunately, I wasn’t at the house when they set up the computers though. I was there when they came and started the installation, but I had to get an oil change, so they did their voodoo with the computers while I was gone. When I got back, I asked my mom if they had to do anything with the computers.** She said they went on to make sure everything was working. Cool. They didn’t go on one of the laptops I had pulled out, but no one was really using it at the time, so it wasn’t a big deal.
Since that had happened, I had tried to enable the wifi on my phone a couple of times but with no success. Not a big deal though, so I let it go. After all, it’s got 3G.*** For his birthday, my dad got a mac mini, and he wanted it connected with the internet. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get on with that either. I grabbed the laptop I set on the table for them to look at (which they never did), and sure enough, that wasn’t working either.
Well, shitake mushrooms weren’t cooked up, because… well… I don’t eat mushroom, but I digress. It was at night, so we just said, “Oh well,” for tonight. They**** were going to call Verizon tomorrow and see what was going on. As far as we knew, the guys who installed the fios did NOTHING to our computers to get them to work with our new equipment. They just went on to make sure they worked.

Well, I still have more to say than will fit in a single Bloggaday, so I’ll stop here. Here being a logical point since I’m going to praise Verizon and their equipment over the next couple of paragraphs. Well, type to you all real soon.
